Although
this is actually No.2 in the new Lazarus series of cloth
bound TheThe box sets; London Town (1983-93) is the first
to be released. The 'Black Box' features the lovingly
restored, remastered and repackaged versions of 'Soul
Mining', 'Infected', 'Mind Bomb' and 'Dusk' plus a very
special bonus CD featuring Tim Pope's brilliant new film
for 'Pillar Box Red' as well as Gavin Bush's mini 'BioPic'
of TheThe's career to date featuring Johnny Marr interviewing
Matt Johnson. The CD also includes Benn Northover's 'In
The A.M.' featuring Ian Peel's ambient sound collage of
TheThe music over the last 23 years.
This
beautifully packaged item is especially designed to feel
'just right' on the bookshelf of any serious TheThe collector
and is guaranteed to provide year after year of pure,
unvarnished pleasure.
The
London Town box set. In stores now. And yes, it really
does look as good as it sounds. Order yours this minute
to avoid disappointment and eventual bitterness.

FALLOUT
FROM MELTDOWN
HB:
Whats been the fallout from your Meltdown show so
far? The general reaction and the feedback. And did the
concert provide glimpses into TheThes future direction?
MJ: Lets see. Overall the feedback
so far has been tremendously positive although I must
admit its also been passionately divided. Backstage
after the show, speaking to many old friends and people
whose opinions I trust, I felt a stronger reaction than
any show I played on the whole of the last tour and in
fact any show Ive played for many years so overall
Im very pleased.

J.
Now back to Heartland, what you're doing in that
song is mourning the decay of England.
M: I suppose in a way that song was
ahead of its time because the Americanisation of
Britain seems to have accelerated rapidly since
then. You see and read about it commented on
more and more, just about how much our little island
is really losing or has lost.
J:
Like Starbucks and all the rest of these dominant
generic multinationals.
