The The have been busy in the studio composing various soundtracks including Rock Box Hammer, the provisionally entitled feature length documentary from Nichola Bruce (I Could Read The Sky http://www.artificia-leye.com/dvd/ART194dvd/cred.html amongst others) as well as ‘Tony’ the new film by Gerard Johnson and ‘Track’ the new feature length documentary from Johanna St Michaels. These scores will be available on The The’s forthcoming Cineola Volume 1 soundtrack album to be released through Lazarus.

Tesco now controls 30% of the grocery market in the UK. In 2005, the supermarket chain announced over £2 billion in profits. Growing evidence indicates that Tesco's success is partly based on trading practices that are having serious consequences for suppliers, farmers, overseas workers, local shops and the environment.

We are asking for:

  • A legally binding code of practice to ensure that all suppliers, throughout the supply chain at home and overseas, are treated fairly.
  • An independent watchdog to ensure the grocery market is operating in the interests of consumers, farmers and small retailers.
  • A block on any new take-overs by Tesco or other major supermarkets.
  • Support for local shops from local authorities and Government.
  • Measures to hold supermarkets accountable for internationally recognised workers' rights throughout their supply chains.
